The Center for Large Landscape Conservation was established to advance the mission of large landscape conservation in the Yellowstone-to-Yukon region, North America, and internationally, by acting as an inter-organizational, scientific and collaborative catalyst.
Given the enormous complexity of threats facing biodiversity today, it would be impossible for any single group to adequately address large-scale conservation challenges. The Center's goals are:
To be a bridge-building entity connecting public and private land conservation groups in both science and management
To facilitate communication among these groups and thereby reduce duplication and enhance capacity
To educate local, state, and federal decision-makers to develop and implement policies capable of addressing large-scale ecological issues such as climate change and habitat fragmentation
It is the Center for Large Landscape Conservation's great hope that the Yellowstone to Yukon region will be a place where new approaches to these challenges are devised and implemented, so that around the world, people with passion to conserve biodiversity will be able to build upon our efforts and adapt them to the needs of their own regions.
The Center for Large Landscape Conservation is fiscally sponsored by the WILD Foundation.
